Discovery Communications Becomes Public Company

On September 18, 2008, Discovery Communciations began trading as a public company, with Discovery Founder John Hendricks, President and CEO David Zaslav and a cast of network talent ringing the opening bell at the NASDAQ stock exchange to commemorate the day. At the time, Discovery had grown to 1.5 billion cumulative subscribers in more than 170 countries.

Discovery also unveiled a new logo and corporate website in conjunction with the milestone.
